Guwahati/March 14, (Prag News Desk): The Bharatiya Janta Party is all set to form it’s first government in Manipur, post Okram Ibobi Singh tendered resignation on Sunday. The BJP government in Manipur will be headed by Nonthambam Biren Singh, a former minister who left the Congress party last year.
Following a four hour party meeting late evening by the newly elected BJP leaders, Biren Singh was elected unanimously as the legislature party leader. He is scheduled to meet Governor Dr. Najma A Heptulla to formally sworn in claim to form the government in Manipur.
BJP have won 21 seats, seeking alliance with Naga People’s Front (4), NPP (4), Lok Janshakti Party (1) and two independents with 32 MLAs’ claiming majority in the State’s 60 member house to the Governor. As Ibobi too had talks with the Governor, he restored to pave path for a New Government to be formed and legislated.
Now that Ibobi Singh had faced an unprecedented political unrest pre-election, the new government is eyeballing change and fair political consummation.
