Seal the Indo-Bangla border, CM urges PM
Guwahati/ 13th April’2017 (Prag News): Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to completely seal the Indo-Bangla border to regulate and even completely put a cease to influx from Bangladesh.
The CM conferred the request through a telephonic conversation on Wednesday where he formally invited the Prime Minister of India to the inauguration of the Dhola-Sadiya bridge in May and to the global investors summit in November. In the conversation Sonowal pointed out that sealing the Indo-Bangla border has been noted as one of the top priorities by the Central Government.
To gear up the issue of illegal migration on war footing, CM also insisted on instructing the Ministry of Home Affairs to center-forth the sealing of the Indo-Bangla border once in for all.
Sonowal also praised the move of allocating 1,800 bighas of land for the Indian Agricultural Research Institute setting up in Dhemaji district.
Speaking on the invite to “Advantage Assam: Gateway to ASEAN”, Sonowal mentioned that this a first ever two-day glocal investors summit that will be held in Guwahati on 9th of November.
The CM also quoted that the 9.15 km long Dhola-Sadiya bridge will be a path -breaker in the surface-communication network in the state of Assam.
