The Cabinet approves IARI in Assam
Guwahati/ 18th May’2017 (Prag News Desk): In a landmark step taken in the agricultural sector of the State, the cabinet has approve to set the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in Assam. At a cost of Rs. 155 crore, the IARI Assam will promote agri-education and seek advent of green-revolution in the North-east region.
Union cabinet lead by PM Narendra Modi, the first IARI was set up in the national capital in the year 1967. However, the very setting up in the region was sacked earlier as the past government was unable to provide land but Sarbananda Sonowal has given 587 acres of land in Dhemaji, Assam.
The IARI Assam will welcome research work holding on with 98 positions, and will focus on research works that will benefit North-East.
