Guwahati/29th May’2017 (Prag News Desk): Three days after the inauguration of the longest bridge in India, former CM of the state Tarun Gogoi accused Centre and the state government for trying to take credit of the bridge. He said that the Dhola-Sadiya bridge was the idea of Congress and that the ruling government now has just taken the laurels of someone else’s plan.
He said, “The bridge was our brainchild and it was approved in 2009 by the Union Cabinet and physical work started in 2011 where the work was awarded to Navayuga Engineering Company Ltd,”.
Prime Minister Modi remarked that it was because of mis-management by Congress in Assam, that the Dhola-Sadiya bridge took five decades to be completed.
The 9.15kms bridge has opened up a socioeconomic connector between East Assam and Arunachal Pradesh and nonetheless, the establishment of the bridge is a welcome move for both the opposition and the government in the State.
