Saffron victory spree at the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council election 2017


Guwahati/ 23rd June’2017 (Prag News Desk): BJP won with majority votes of four-fifths in the 26-seat Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) trashing Congress, Hills State Demand Council (HSDC) and Karbi Anglong Democratic Front (KADF).

Occupying 22 seats out of 26 seats is a big lead for BJP in the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council election where the national party Congress failed to earn a seat along with HSDC. Karbi Anglong Democratic Front somehow managed to win two seats, source added.

According to source, the victory of BJP in the election holds the record for the highest numbers of wins after completing the election.
The eventual defeat marked with BJP surpassing the Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) with 22 seats.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that Assam government is working from day one ensuring safety and security including the equal development for the state people.

He further conveyed vote of thanks to the people of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong for ensuring a peaceful environment during poll in the both the district.


Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council election for all the 26 constituencies which held on June 12 was confirmed by the Assam State Election Commission.

Candidates participated in the election includes both the national parties from Indian National Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party.

Harson Bey, Damian Hanse, Rupsing Bongrung, Biswa Rongpi, Sing Teron, Bajong Tisso, Harendra Kramsa, Mohon Engti, Alice Engtipi, Deuri Lekthe, Longki Engti, Sanjeeb Teron, Rajani Beypi, Men Sing Taro, Bidya Sing Engleng, Ashok Teron, Kareng Teronpi, Dhansing Kramsa, Etika Diphusa, Chandra Sing Teron, Chandra Kathar, Kasang Terangpi, Lakhiram Soi, Borsing Rongpi, Khagen Terang and Rajen Engti are the candidate issued by Rajan Bora, General Secretary of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee for the elcection.

Whereas the BJP candidates issued by Dilip Saikia, Member Secretary of Election Committee, BJP Assam Pradesh are Prabaht Ch Taro, Dhaniram Maslai, Pradip Rongpi, Rupsing Teron, Haren Sing Bey, Tuliram Ronghang, Pawan Kumar, Mangal Sing Timung, Rina Terangpi, Khorsing Rongpi, Ramsing Timung, Darsing Ronghang, Thorendra Brahma, Raju Tisso, Lunsing Teron, Ritish Enghi, Kache Rongpipi, Ratan Teron, Pradip Diphusa, Amarsing Tisso, Longki Timung, Jagatsing Engti, Madhurjya Dhekial Phukan, Mukut Mahanta, Pabitra Rongpi and Roton Engti.
