Guwahati/ 27th June’2017 (Prag News Desk): Sarbananda Sonowal reviewed implementation of Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) in Assam at a meeting at Dispur on Tuesday.
Stressing on the sound implementation of the The Crime and Criminal Tracking Networks and Systems (CCTNS), CM stated that, ” proper implementation of CCTNS is an urgent need for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of policing across the State.”
As defined on the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems(CCTNS) website, “CCTNS is a plan scheme conceived in the light of experience of a non-plan scheme namely – Common Integrated Police Application(CIPA). CCTNS is a Mission Mode Project under the National e-Governance Plan of Govt of India. CCTNS aims at creating a comprehensive and integrated system for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of policing through adopting of principle of e-Governance and creation of a nationwide networking infrastructure for evolution of IT-enabled-state-of-the-art tracking system around ‘Investigation of crime and detection of criminals’. An allocation of Rs. 2000 crores has been made for CCTNS Project. Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the project on 19.06.2009. Expression of Interest (EOI) has been invited from the Software developers by 17.08.2009.”
CM directed Assam Police to create and spread awareness on CCTNS so that the common people can avail the benefits from the project.
