Sri Lankan task ended by India with 16 runs victory
Guwahati/ 6th May’2017 (Prag News Desk): India picked up a giant victory over Sri Lanka with 16 run victories in ICC Women’s World Cup on Wednesday.
India clinches a semi-final spot in the tournament by restricting four nations by consecutive victory.
Chasing a target of 233 target set by India, Sri Lanka lost their wickets in regular interval as Indian bowlers soon overpowered them.
Poonam Yadav and Jhulan Goswami took two wickets each for team India.
After winning the toss India elected to bat first, as Deepti Sharma scored 78 and skipper Mithali Raj scored 53 for team India and posted 232 for 8.
India with poor starting by top order batswomen, Deepti and Mithali shared combined 118 runs third wicket partnership in 26 over.
Sri Lanka’s Shashikala Siriwardene scored the highest of 61. Weerakkody scalped three wickets while Ranaweera took two wickets for Sri Lanka.
