Guwahati/ 7th July’2017 (Prag News Desk): Illegal immigrants have found a new spot in the city, which is the Adabari bus stand.
Illegally run by one, Mukhtar Hussain who have occupied over 3 hectares of land of the Adabari bus stand. He is allocating the chunks of this land mass for various occupations that includes recycling of waste like plastic bottles.
Shops are also installed in the bus stop, and the utter surprise is that Mukhtar is been able to run his occupational operations under the nose of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation.
“GMC has given us no land to stay so where will we go? I am from Bihar and this is a better spot where we can stay. We work here.”- stated a waste-collector and dweller at the Adabari bus stand.
Post further investigation, Prag News found out that illegal land encroachment is a continued process in the bus stand and is only growing over the years.
“We are from West Bengal, Mukhtar brought us here and now we are employed here with accomodation provided.”-said a family who came to the city in search of work.
However, after intervention of media Guwahati Municipal Corporation has given Muktar a notice of two days to clean and evict the Adabari bus stand.
