Modi talks to Sonowal regarding Assam flood


Guwahati/ 10th July’2017 (Prag News Desk): Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal over phone to prevail flood ongoing situation of Assam on Sunday.

At least 4,86,726 people were affected over 1,096 villages and destroyed crops area of 41,239 affected in deluge.

Sonowal shared its government’s effective work and expeditious measure taken for the victims affected in flood with Modi.

Sonowal informed Modi that the cabinet ministers have been directed to rush to flood affected areas to arrange rescue facilities with possible measures for the flood affected people.

The MP’s and MLA’s were asked to look after their flood affected region to take measure of rescuing victims.

Lakhimpur, Jorhat, Golaghat, Cachar, Dhemaji, Biswanath, Karimganj, Sonitpur, Majuli, Barpeta, Nagaon, Nalbari, Sivasagar, Morigaon and Chirang were the major affected regions in flood.

Regions like Neamatighat, Tezpur, Dibrugarh, Goalpara and Dhubri could face heavy flood in coming days as the river Brahmaputra is flowing above danger level.

Sonowal said to Modi as State administration is actively taking the problem of flood and erosion in Assam during the conversation.

As Central government will give all the support to State government to overcome the situation.
