Guwahati/ 28th July’2017 (Prag News Desk): Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal chaired a Cabinet meeting at Janata Bhawan, Guwahati on Friday.
The Cabinet reviewed post-flood rehabilitation measures and directed officials to speed up the process. An initial of Rs 2,939 crore has been estimated to begin with the restoration after the Assam deluge.
In a unfortunate figure, a total of 76 people have lost their lives due to the flood, which has also affected over 25.42 lakh people.
Further, Cabinet has decided to shut down all border checkgates, effective from July 31 and to set up Yoga Clusters in 100 Development Blocks.
In honour of martyrs of Assam Movement, Cabinet decided to set up Swahid Udyan in Guwahati and allocated 98 bighas land for the purpose. Also, cabinet decided to celebrate Independence Day with a 3-Day programme on 13, 14 & 15 August. Will include various competitions & rallies.
Cabinet also decided to grant Journalist Pension. 20 journalists will be awarded this year, 10 journalists will receive from next year onwards. All ministers showing solidarity with flood victims, decided to donate one month salary towards Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
