Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok to be opened as government guest house shortly
Guwahati/ 12th August’2017 (Prag News Desk):Since both of the government guest houses of the state are being used as residences of the former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and CM Sarbananda Sonowal respectively, Assam government has decided to convert hotel Brahmaputra Ashok into state’s government guest house.
According to sources, the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok, which has recently been taken over by the tourism department, will be closed down from 1st September 2017.
The present staff in the hotel were seen very disappointed with the idea saying nothing has been offered to them so far as a compensation of the sudden shutdown of the hotel except offering voluntary retirement to the permanent employees, which has caused serious tension among them.
At present a total of 56 permanent employees are serving in the hotel along with 50 contractual employees.
