CBI arrests IPS officer for his involvement in an alleged gang rape case in Shimla
Guwahati/ 30th August’2017 (Prag News Desk):An IPS officer along with 7 other police official has been arrested by CID officials over an allegation of involvement in the rape and murder case of a school going girl in Shimla last month.
According to sources, Inspector General Zahur H. Zaidi, who was heading the Special Investigation Team in probing the crime, and Deputy Superintendent Manoj Joshi were two among the total 8 accused police officials involved in the case.
As per police statement on 4th July, a 16 year was offered lift by accused, while she was on her way home from school in Kothai town.
Taking advantage of the situation the accused forcefully dragged the girl into the nearby forest and raped her.Her cloth less injured body was found by some locals after two days.
The arrested persons are prime accused Rajinder Singh, who offered her the lift, Ashish Chauhan, Subhash Bisht, Deepak Kumar, Suraj Singh and Lokjan.
Later, on the appeal of the Himachal Pradesh government, the state High Court called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the case.
