Pending Bills gets green go in the concluding cabinet meeting
Guwahati/ 1st September’2017 (Prag News Desk): In the State Cabinet meeting that was chaired yesterday, several pending decisions were taken including the approval to the state population bill.
The bill intends to focus majorly on women empowerment, which also includes the proposal for allotment of a plot of land measuring 32 acres of land in Beltola area. Incidentally, the vision is for the construction of a 65 story international trade centre in Guwahati.
The proposal for constructing the 2nd unit of Assam Petrochemicals Ltd. with an estimated cost of Rs.1.337 crore has also been approved the cabinet along with the population bill.
On the other hand, the government has decided that instead of providing appointment to the eligible family members of the government officials on their demise , the government decided to provide full payment to the family of the deceased till the time of their retirement.This policy will come into force from 1st April,2017.
The bill for opening the “Majuli University of Culture” was also approved by the cabinet and the decision of forming a state capital region in the state was also made in the meeting.In another decision the cabinet has decided to affiliate all the Sanskrit tols under the Kumar Bhaskar Barma University.The University will prepare the curriculum of the Tols and conduct their examinations, said the Cabinet.
The Bills for setting up three new universities – Bhattadev University, Madhabdev University and Rabindranath Tagore University – were also approved by the Cabinet in the meeting.Besides, the cabinet also approved the Assam Employees PRONAM Bill for 2017, Municipal Administration Reforms Bill and enhancement in the allowances of the Construction Workers’ Welfare Fund.
It will be important to mention that the cabinet also decided to visit all flood-hit areas from September 15 onwards and extend their support for implementation of the Swacch Bharat Mission.
