Negligence in Assamese films raised in assembly
Guwahati/8th September’2017 (Prag News Desk): The issue of negligence in Assamese films by big cinema hall and multiplex owners is raised in the Assam Legislative Assembly on Thursday. The issue is raised after the cancellation of premier show of high budget Assamese cinema Mission China directed and produced by music star Zubeen Garg by new multiplex at the last moment. It has been from the past the regional cinema is not given much importance like the Bollywood and Hollywood releases. The matter in raised by legislators Angoorlata Deka and Gunindra Nath Das in the assembly in the beginning hour on Thursday. Angoorlata herself a successful actor said that the cinema hall owners were repeatedly neglecting the Assamese cinema. She also sought clarity from the minister for availing subsidy for making Assamese films. State Cultural Affairs Minister Naba Kumar Doley said he will look into the important matter and will work to promote local cinema. Doley also added as the cancellation of the premier show was due to personal differences and also assured that no house that no discriminatory attitude against Assamese cinemas will be tolerated.
