Akhil Gogoi was arrested for a fake encounter: KMSS leadership
Guwahati/ 16th September’2017 (Prag News Desk): The Krishak Mukti Sangram Sammittee (KMSS) leadership condemned the whole arrest fiasco stating that the State Government had conspired to eliminate its leader Akhil Gogoi.
On September 13, Akhil Gogoi was lifted into the police vehicle from his residence in Golaghat for a fake encounter or a secret killing which was intervened after media was allowed into the station-the KMSS leadership remarked.
“It is a testimony that the police had ulterior motives like the secret killing or a fake encounter and Akhil Gogoi was treated the most inhumane way.” stated Vedanta Laskar, advisor to the peasant body and convenor of Gana Mukti Sangram, Assam.
He further cited an instance that Akhil was treated inhumanly by the police as a folded cloth was thrust into his mouth before being dragged into the police vehicle in haste. Akhil was only in his vest and lungi. Had the neighbours not been witness to this event, Akhil would have been a victim of secret killing or a fake encounter, he added.
The KMSS leader further said that under the Sarbananda Sonowal led BJP Government, Viswa Hindu Parishad (VHP) had conducted arms training in some areas of the State under Durga Vahini. This was brought to the notice of the police. But the government has not registered any case against this RSS/BJP affiliates. Pradip Haloi, vice president of the district committee has also been slapped the same charges as Akhil Gogoi. Whereas, Dharjya Konwar, the KMSS joint secretary quoted Supreme Court’s ruling that only a ‘violent revolution’ against the government attracted the charge of sedition. By arresting, the BJP and the RSS are only trying to suppress the voice of the people, he remarked.
It is to be mentioned here that post the whole incident, Dibrugarh Police Station ASI Makarandi Yadav and constables Ramam Adhesh Yadav, Pranjit Sharma and Poroma Lahon are rusticated for abstaining orders while on duty, which was allowing media to take bytes from KMSS leader in the very custody itself.
