Guwahati/16th September’2017 (Prag News Desk): The Assam Employees Parental Responsibility and Norms for Accountability and Monitoring (PRANAM) Bill was passed in the Assam Assembly on Friday which to make it mandatory for a State government employee to take care of their parents. The bill was first introduced by Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in the House which was passed by the Assam Assembly. The bill was passed unanimously with all ruling and opposition MLAs backing it. The bill will make mandatory for the state government employees will look after their dependent parents, said Himanta Biswa Sarma. The bill also include if state employees not maintained the mandatory bill the state government will cut of their income nearly about 10-15 percent and will be provide to the parents for their survival,” said Sarma. Assam has become the first and the only state to approve such legislations. Assembly Speaker Hitendra Nath Goswami said it is one of the most progressive bill passed by the House.
