Six arrested with 6.97 kg gold at Imphal Airport
Guwahati/16th September’2017 (Prag News Desk): Six persons were arrested with 6.97 kg of gold biscuit at the Imphal International Airport in Manipur on Saturday. The investigation was led by combined team of customs division and Central Industrial Security Force which successfully arrested the people. According to the information, around 35 gold biscuits were seized which were smuggled from Myanmar. The six persons were planned to take away the gold plates to Kolkata through Imphal-Kolkata-Delhi Indigo flight. The 35 gold biscuits valued of Rs 1.79 crore in the market. Gaikhalung Panmei, Deputy Commissioner of Customs Division said they have found nothing in their pockets but with the close interrogation the officials caught them of carrying gold biscuits. After investigation the six people were the carriers of gold not the owner of the gold. The airport authority handed over the six arrested person to Manipur police. As the Manipur police have stated their investigation in the case.
