Khadi to be made compulsory for Govt. officials.
Guwahati/ 2nd October’2017 (Prag News Desk): Speaking on the ocassion of 148th birthday of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced today that every government employee will be given two pair of Khadi apparel for free.
Speaking in a function organized by the Assam Khadi & Village Industries Board, the minister stated that wearind the “Freedom Cloth” must be made a habit and part of our daily lives.
“Every government employee will be given two pair of Khadi and they will have to wear it at least once a month.”- he stated, also informing that about 12 crore will be spent in this exercise though only 5 crore has been considered in the budget so far.
On 14th April, the Khadi garments will be given away to the government employees.
Khadi, the fabric embodies a worldview of the past as well as of the future and is a symbol of Indian textile heritage.
