Digital Desk: On the evening of March 11, a terrible fire broke out in two coaches of a moving train in Guwahati's Chandmari area. It's been said that when the tragedy occurred, the train was on its way to Lower Assam.

As stated by an NF Railway official, the incident occurred at about 6.30 p.m. when an empty bogie of a passenger train caught fire.

The cause of the fire is yet unknown, and an investigation is being carried on.

While one bogie was completely destroyed, another was just partially damaged in the fire. According to an eyewitness, the fire that started in a coach eventually spread to the next bogie attached to it.

Fortunately, the two coaches that caught fire were empty, and no casualties or injuries were reported. Unfortunately, due to the event, railway services between Upper and Lower Assam have been suspended.

The authorities acted immediately, and firefighting personnel, as well as Guwahati Police, are on the scene to put out the fire.

The tragedy has sparked widespread alarm and concern among the general public, who are eagerly waiting for the updates. Commuters travelling between Upper and Lower Assam should make alternate arrangements till train service is restored.

According to the official, no one was hurt in the mishap. Regarding the incident, further information is being awaited.
