New Delhi: A 16-year-old girl who came to the capital in search of a job was raped by an auto driver at a rented accommodation in east Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar area.
The accused has been identified as Ravi Kumar, Age 30, and has been taken to custody by the police.
The police have also arrested the accused friend, Sajjan, as he allegedly snatched the girl’s mobile phone and threatened her.
On August, 27 the victim and her friend came to Delhi to find a job. They got off the train and boarded an auto in search of a rented accommodation after which the auto driver took them to his relative’s house in New Ashok Nagar and he also promised to get them a job.
In the meantime, the auto-driver sent her friend to buy some stuff for the house from the market. He started sexually assaulting the girl and when her friend returned from the market, he found her crying and she requested him to take her back to Bihar.
The auto driver dropped them back at the railway station and asked them to keep quiet about the incident. When the girl broke down again in the railway station, a cop spotted her and took her to the police station and enquired.
An FIR was registered immediately.
The accused was tracked with the help of CCTV footage and the girl’s stolen phone.
The accused, Ravi, also belongs to Bihar and fled to his hometown immediately after the incident. A team was sent and he was arrested near his house. The other accused, Sajjan, belongs from Delhi.
The accused have also been booked under sections of the protection of children from sexual offences (POCSO) Act as the victim is a minor.
Her family has been informed and she has been provided counselling.
She told the NGO officials that she was in a relationship with her male friend and wanted to marry him. Both of them had come to Delhi to start a new life.
