Guwahati/ 19th May’2017 (Prag News Desk): General Motors Co. journey in India since 1996 finally concedes as the American company decides on to stop selling cars in India from the end of this year.
The reason that is cited predominantly as inability to connect with the Indian masses, besides being the only GM company in India sharing only 1% in the marketplace.
General Motors have already closed the Gujarat plant and manufactures for exports only at its Talegaon plant in Maharashtra, these loosing ends thus influenced the decision. This is a significant blow to Indian strategy of encouraging domestic manufacturing.
Although Chevrolet car dealers across the country are yet to receive a formal notification by General Motor Co.
