Cabinet gives a green-go to AIIMS, Kamrup
25th May’2017 (Prag News Desk): As BJP is on the onset of celebrating its first anniversary in the State, the Cabinet under the hegemony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave the approval to the setting up of AIIMS in the State. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences will be on floor with an estimate of 1,123 crore and post the date of approval, it is projected to be completed in 48 months.
The medical institute will set up under the “Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna. The Kamrup AIIMS will consist of a hospital with a capacity of 750 beds and trauma centre facilities. With a projection of pre-construction phase of 15 months and commissioning phase of 3 months.
At AIIMS, Assam pattern will also include a medical college which can accommodate 100 MBBS students per year, a nursing for 60 BSc (Nursing) students, residential complexes and allied facilities The hospital will have 22 speciality or superspeciality departments including 16 operation theatres, an AYUSH department with 30 beds for treatment facilities in traditional systems of medicine.
AIIMS, Kamrup will serve as a superspeciality health care to the population. It will place a stale of doctors and other health workers in this region, available for primary and secondary level institutions created under the National Health Mission (NHM).
