Guwahati/12th June’2017 (Prag News Desk): A multi-crore-rupee scam in the State excise department has been reported. The scam that is extra neutral alcohol (ENA), used for producing distilled spirits like vodka, rum, whiskey, etc., was imported from other states using fake permits. Excise Minister Parimal Suklabaidya probe investigation and has asked for a report from the department.
On the initial scratch to the scam came to light when Haryana police reflected lodged complaints against buyers in Assam majorly in Tinsukia and Sibsagar, the ENA suppliers mentioning of fake ids. It is also to mention that the the scam took place between 2009-10 and 2013-14.
Followed by fake documents, the liquor buyers in Assam are importing the same constructing forgery in the national market. A team from Haryana Police recently visited the State to verify these documents, including certificates and permits produced by the importers to the suppliers based in the north Indian state.
Incidentally, some seniors in the State excise officials are also involved and with their signatures on forged permits, the counter-charges continues following the valuable tip-off received by sources.
Excise Minister Parimal Suklabaidya has now set up a high level inquiry to followed investigations into the scam.
