Guwahati/ 4th July’2017 (Prag News Desk): North East Students Organisation (NESO) asked National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) to probe the Delhi Golf Club incident.
The incident took place when Delhi Golf Club asked a Meghalaya woman to leave for wearing a traditional dress.
Student’s union sent a letter to Nand Kumar Sai, NCST chairperson to punish the club authority.
NESO said the Delhi Golf Club had violated the basic ethos of human values and they should be as per the provisions the law.
On June 25 Tailin Lyngdoh had gone to the Club along with her employer Nivedita Barthakur for a lunch invitation by a club member. After some while the club officials asked Lyngdoh to leave the club by commenting ‘maid’s uniform’ looking at her tradition dress.
NESO said that she belongs to the Scheduled Tribe and her rights are protected under the laws governing Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes of India.
Chief Minister Mukul Sangma urges the Union Home Ministry to file a case against the club.
Delhi Police are following the case with active investigation.
Any form of discrimination is not at all good for India which needed to be end.
