High alert for tsunami at Russia as quake hits 7.7


Guwahati/ 18th July’2017 (Prag News Desk): A powerful earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale alerted Russia as tsunami may hit soon on Monday.

The quake occurred 199 km east of Nikolskoye on Bering Island in Russia.

According to US Geological Survey (USGS), more than 600 people lives at Bering Island, source added.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre sent notice for tsunami warning for Japan, Russia, Guam, Hawaii, the Northern Mariana Islands and other outskirts area of US in the North Pacific Ocean.

The tremors struck the North Pacific Ocean situated close to the east of Russia are now alerted under tsunami danger.

People leaving near to it are alerted to take safety zone and measures.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre officials informed people to avoid staying at beach and sailing towards the North Pacific Ocean till the end of high alert.

All the boat communication were stopped and those boat are practicing in the sea were immediately informed to return back.  

Officials reports the sea waves could reach 6 inches above the tide on Monday at the populated Shemya and Alaska region.
