Guwahati/ 24th July’2017 (Prag News Desk): Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal attended the farewell reception of Haj Yatris at the Haji Musafir Khana in Guwahati on Sunday.
Hajj is one of the largest pilgrim gatherings of the world which takes place once a year. It is the greatest religious duty that a Muslim must carry out at least once in his lifetime.
The pilgrims undertake the procession by wearing simple white clothes that represents humanity, and remaining in a spiritual state wherein they are not bothered by any worldly affairs or any bad habits. They undertake this journey in order to stand in front of the holiest shrine of the Muslim world and ask God to accept their good deeds.
On the ceremonious occasion, CM wished all Haj Yatris a successful & safe travel, asking them to pray for peace, harmony and a strong Assam.
The tentative date of flight from Guwahati is scheduled to start from 25th July and will continue till 26th August 2017 ( Tentative Dates ). Pilgrims will disembark in Jeddah. Commencement of Inbound Flight will start from 4th Sep.
Speaking on the occasion, CM also stressed the need for a corruption free Waqf Board & promised to look into setting up of centralised Haj Centre.
