Guwahati/ 25th July’2017 (Prag News Desk): With the objective of inspiring the inconspicuous personalities ,who has marvelled the planet with their contribution towards wildlife conservation, the Development Foundation of Assam has decided to give away the B.K. Handique Wildlife Award every year.
According to sources, wildlife Activist Rajen Boro from Udalguri, Bhutiyachang has been selected for the first B.K Handique award for his excellent leadership in wildlife conservation instituted by the Development Foundation of Assam(DFA) .
The selected panel of DFA decided to confer the award to Rajen Boro for his significant role in sorting out man-human conflict in the region during the programme “Elephant on the line” .
It will be important to mention that in a survey on the total number of man-animal conflict in Asia, the district of Udalguri,which is one among the most vulnerable districts in India in terms of man-elephant conflict, topped the list of deaths with the loss of 89 people and 49 wild elephants so far.
