Amir Khan donates for flood, Priyanka still no where to be seen.
Guwahati/ 31st July’2017 (Prag News Desk): Superstar Amir Khan has donated Rs 25 lakh to the Assam government for its flood relief operations. The Assam deluge which has so far killed over 1 lakh people and in the devastating catastrophe that has rendered many homeless.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal took to Twitter to thank Aamir Khan for his kind act as a responsible citizen.
Aamir Khan, had recently posted a video on Twitter asking people to come out in support of flood victims in both Assam and Gujarat.
The 52-year-old ‘Dangal’ star said, “Friends, many areas of Assam and Gujarat have been affected by heavy floods. And, our brothers and sisters there are facing a lot of difficulties. Lots of lives have also been lost and there has been a huge financial loss too. We are helpless in front of nature but we can help those staying there.”
He appealed his fans to help people staying in Assam and Gujarat by contributing to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
The Centre has already announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each under the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for the next of kin of people killed and Rs 50,000 to seriously injured persons in the recent flood in Assam.
Incidentally, Priyanka Chopra who was appointed as the Brand Ambassador for Assam tourism is nowhere to be seen during the Assam deluge. Not a word of concern for the people of Assam or about the flood situation.
As 2.37 crores had been spent during the last visit of Global star Priyanka Chopra, brand ambassador for Assam Tourism and the remuneration is yet to be decided by the State.
The Assam treasury have been cutting down a major financial cut-down with Rs. 8.10 lakhs spent on food and accomodation at Hotel Radisson Blu. Rs. 6.48 lakhs spent on Team assisting the star. Team Priyanka’s related travel expenses: Rs. 22.70 lakhs, accommodation expenses for around Rs. 1.77 lakhs of the team. Team Priyanka’s travel expenses in Guwahati: Rs. 2.61 lakhs.
Chopra has been vocal about multiple issues in the recent past, including the lack of diversity in Oscars and women empowerment in Africa. Her fans hope that she will voice her concern for Assam soon.
