Flood kills 64 in Nepal


Guwahati/ 14th August’2017 (Prag News Desk): At least 64 people were killed and nearly 1 lakh people displaced in a tremendous flood occurred due to flood and landslide in Nepal on Sunday. Rescue operations were set up in several parts of the country as rivers are flowing above the danger levelSouthern Terain is one of the worst hit region where so far 36 people are reported missing. According to government data around 40 thousand houses were badly affected. Thousands acres of land were submerged under water. Several transmission lines were destroyed as deluge is still going on as no network of landline and mobile phone was getting connected. The region was disconnected after heavy electricity shutdown, the officials are trying to resolve the situation at  par.

Government officials and security forces rushed to the spot to rescue people from flood affected region. Home Ministry directed the officials to shift victims of flood and landslide to safer shelters and provide them food and medical care. 

Nepal Meteorological Forecasting Division reported that heavy rain would expect to continue in coming days.
