Based on an allegation registered by an APSE candidate,the court of Special Judge ,Assam today in the verdict said that the former chairman of APSE Rakesh Paul will be arrested shortly.
According to sources,Rakesh Paul, the prime accuse of APSE job scam, was granted bail by Supreme court on Wednesday.
But,just after a few days of his bail on the basis of the FIR lodged by the candidate,police today prayed Poul’s arrest under sections 120b/420/468 IPC read with Sections 7/13(i)(a) (d) (3) /2 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The FIR was lodged by Bedanta Bikash Das. In the FIR it was stated that he had appeared in the 2014 APSE examination and he was asked by Rakesh Paul and his associate Musharaf Hussain to pay 15 lac to secure the post of Agriculture Development Office,for which Bedanta even paid a 50000 in advance to Paul inside the premises of “Satsang Vihar” Bhangagarh.
Later ,production warrant has been issued ,as per which Paul will be produced before the court of Special Judge,Assam on August 18.There is possibility that police will keep Paul under detention during the investigation of the case.
While asked on the special case registered against Paul,special public prosecutor of the case BK Mahajan stated that justification of such arrest was there in the apex court’s order granting bail to Paul, which reads as follow..
‘We make it clear that this does not prohibit or otherwise prevent the arrest or re-arrest of the petitioner on cogent grounds in respect of the subject charge and upon arrest or re-arrest, the petitioner is entitled to petition for grant of regular bail which application should be considered on its own merit. We also make it clear that this will not impact on the arrest of the petitioner in any other case.
