Guwahati/ 31st Ausust’2017 (Prag News Desk):In regard to the implementation of the Assam Accord ,Assam Gana Parishad today pleaded the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to pressure on the neighbouring countries for taking back their citizens from country. A body of AGP delegates with its president Atul Bora today submitted their memorandum to the Union Home Minister regarding the issue.
The AGP president said that Rajnath Singh would look into the demand in the coming days.
“The Union Home Ministry is the nodal ministry for implementation of the clauses in terms of the Assam Accord. We, therefore, urge upon you to take appropriate steps towards the implementation of the Accord in toto,” AGP appealed.
Talking about granting citizenship to Hindu Bangladeshis, AGP said that deportation of foreigners must not be on the basis of religion and they oppose the proposed Central government bill for amending the Citizenship Act, 1955.
The delegation also brought up the issue of flood and its severity in the state for last few years. “We demand that flood in Assam should be declared as a national problem,so that the problem can be dealt with effectively by the center”,the party said.
