Guwahati/6th September’2017 (Prag News Desk): Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Myanmar on Tuesday and met Myanmarese president Suu Kyi to create bilateral ties of peace and development between the two nations. This is Modi’s first bilateral visit to Myanmar after 2014 during the ASEAN-India Summit. India and Myanmar signed up eight agreements to build up multifaceted partnership that visions global development of various sectors including democratic institutions. The agreements were signed after the talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Myanmar’s State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the eight MoU were signed to organise cultural exchange programme from 2017-2020. It also includes agreement on the Election Commission and Union Election of Myanmar. MoUs also includes agreements on cooperation between Myanmar Press Council and Press Council of India.
What is monumentary here is that the India-Myanmar Centre for Enhancement for IT skill to be established under the MoUs.
They also signed MoU to cooperate on upgradation of the women’s police training centre at Yamethin in Myanmar.
