Guwahati/8th September’2017 (Prag News Desk): The Assam government signed a MoU with Google India to enable internet connectivity across the State on Thursday. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said the government is looking forward to provide internet connections to 26,000 villages including 1,500 tea gardens in Assam. Our main focus is to increase digital literacy in every corner of the State, added Sonowal. The Memorandum of Understanding is signed by Information Technology Secretary Nitin Khare and Google India Country Head (Policy) Chetan Krishnaswami in front of Sonowal. A tie with Google India is a way to development for Assam to the remotest parts. The MoU will help the State government to develop the vision and to achieve in women empowerment, skill development including the universal education. The Chief Minister directed the Information Technology Department to take necessary steps to spread technology among the rural population to bring up rural development.
