Kolkata school wins CBSE chess championship
Guwahati/11th September’2017 (Prag News Desk): Lakshmipat Singhania Academy, Kolkata has bagged the first prize in the CBSE Far East Zone Chess Championship .
The competition was hosted by the Royal Global School, Guwahati from September 7 to 9 at the school premises within the age categories U-11 (mixed & girls) U-14 (mixed & girls) U-17 (mixed & girls) and U-19 (mixed & girls) in Swiss League team format.
Total 172 players from 21 schools of Assam, West Bengal and Orissa were seen participating in this 3-day event.
The tournament was conducted by a team of 7 FIDE and National Arbiters led by Lakhyajoyti Saikia from Assam as the Chief Arbiter. Santanu Lahiri (Kolkata), Nandan Buragohain, Y Dhanabir Singh, Monimala Sinha, Salina Masum and Ravikant Tiwari were the other arbiters.
