Guwahati/ 11th November’2017 (Prag News Desk):Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao kicked up a storm in the state declaring “Urdu” as the second official language in Telangana with the BJP coming out to ask why not Hindi or English being considered for the same.
BJP spokesperson Krishna Sagar Rao, told CNN-News18 accusing the Chief Minister of playing vote bank politics. First by considering the most controversial move officially to develop a special IT corridor for Muslims and then secondly this act of making Urdu the second official language.
In this latest move, Chief Minister KCR has asked all government offices starting from the Chief Minister’s Office to District Collectorate, to receive all petitions in Urdu as well. Besides all competitive examinations will also be conducted in Urdu.
However, earlier the CM had announced that minorities’ development and welfare should be concluded among the top priority programmes being implemented by the state government. Showering the minorities with several such schemes, he had also asked his officers to work with more dedication towards the minorities, who are, like the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, living in poverty.
He reiterated that if the Centre fails to take a call, they may even consider moving the Supreme Court to get a minority quota.
Giving consideration to this minority rights or ‘appeasement’, it would surely be heating up for the coming days State assembly elections in 2019.
