15 more slots are approved for new colleges by Maharashtra govt.
Guwahati/ 22nd November’2017 (Prag News): On Tuesday, in a meeting, Education Minister Vinod Tawde said the Maharashtra State Commission for Higher Education and Development (MAHED) reviewed the recommendations of an expert committee and thereafter granted approval of 15 slots for new colleges. Of these 15 slots , University of Mumbai have jurisdiction over 15 slots, three commerce and arts colleges, and two law colleges.
According to the ordinance passed in the cabinet, state an extension till December 15 to call for applications from prospective new colleges, mitigating the deadline set by the MPUA upto October 31.
The cabinet decided to form a student council with nominate members for the academic year 2017-18. The dates for the formation of university authorities is made from November 30 to February 28.
