Guwahati/ 19th December’2017 (Prag News Desk): During the third ODI against Sri Lanka, this year Pandya took his wickets past 30 also managed to score 500 runs in 50 over internationals. In 1986, Kapil has done that among the Indian all rounder players.

Since the time of Kapil Dev’s retirement, India has been struggling to find someone who fits to do justice to both batting and bowling none other than the legend himself, Kapil who contributed all his hard work and efforts to become one of India’s best all rounders and a well played cricketers.  In the recent time, if anyone has reached to that level to raise hopes in that search, it’s Hardik Pandya, who has managed to reach to that level and breaks Kapil’s 31-year record in 2017. Kapil scored 517 runs and picked 32 wickets in 27 ODIs in the year 1986. His best knock was 58, while the best bowling figures read 4/30.

Pandya has finished 2017 with 31 ODI wickets with a best of 3/40. He performed better than Kapil scoring 557 runs with a career best of 83. He scored four half-centuries in total. His 31 wickets in the year also bring him in the fifth list of highest wicket-takers in ODIs this year.

Surprisingly, it was Kapil who handed Pandya his ODI Cap when the budding player made his debut against New Zealand on 16 October last year. Pandya finished with figures of 2/49 in 10 overs but didn’t get a chance to bat as India took over Sri Lanka’s 215 to win by 8 wickets.
