Guwahati/ 16th April’2018 (Prag News Desk):
A statewide Bandh has been declared by different political parties functioning in Andhra Pradesh, after centre plans to declare special status category. The Bandh has been declared by people’s group Andhra Pradesh Pratyeka Hoda Saadhana Samiti to press for special status for the state. The strike is wholeheartedly supported by YSR Congress Party, Congress and CPM, however the ruling TDP has opposed it.
Direct reports coming from Andhra Pradesh have been updating of the sudden Bandh which is disrupting normal life, mainly public transport and important roads being blocked.
The report also says that transport services between Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh are also to be likely affected as well with the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation announcing that it will operate its buses only till the Andhra Pradesh state border.
The ruling Telugu Desam Party has been protesting against the centre since 2014 for not fulfilling their demand of the centre’s promise to accord a special status for the state after the state of Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated into Telangana and the residuary Andhra Pradesh state in 2014.
