Guwahati Police raid private hostels looking for KMSS student


Just few hours after KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi was arrested along with many others for his protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill outside the NEDA meeting here in Guwahati, Police have now arrested multiple members of Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti (the student wing of KMSS) from Guwahati University area after raiding several private hostels.

Members of Guwahati University unit of the students’ organization were seen burning the effigy of BJP President Amit Shah as they observe Black Day today demanding scrapping of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016. They were also seen holding black drums & black banners and blowing up black balloons as a sign of protest against the BJP President’s visit to Assam.

The Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti members were seen protesting outside the Bhupen Hazarika Samadhi Kshetra located near the Guwahati University premises at Jalukbari, enroute Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra where the NEDA meeting is being held, from the airport. The detained protestors have been taken to the Jalukbari Police Station.

Earlier Akhil Gogoi and other leaders and members of KMSS were detained from outside the premises of Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra while they were waving black flags followed by strong protests against BJP National President Amit Shah’s visit to Guwahati for the third NEDA meeting.

Meanwhile more inputs on the KMSS student wing members arrest are being carried across the city.
