After the recent disclosure of the alleged P&RD paper leak through messaging app WhatsApp, conducted on May 20, students and civil organizations across the state have been demanding the State Government to conduct re-examination of the controversial Combined Competitive Examination for various posts under Panchayat and Rural development (P&RD) department of the Assam government.
Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora on Tuesday demanded immediate resignation of Minister of State (Independent Charge) for P&RD Naba Kumar Doley for “failing to conduct the examination properly”.
Addressing media persons here, Bora said, “Minister Doley said there were no anomalies in the examination and was held in a proper way. If this is the case, then why did Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal order enquiry into the matter. For failing to conduct the examination, on moral grounds, Doley should resign and there should be a CBI enquiry into the anomalies.”
Pressing for Doley’s resignation, Bora added, “He (Doley) has failed to hold the examination in a free-fair way. We demand the Government to conduct fresh examination.”
It may be noted that the P&RD examination was held on May 20 across the state. Reports of paper leak and use of mobile phones inside the examination halls have been reported from various parts of the state. However, Doley, while addressing the media on Monday, stated that no re-examination will be held.
