The Lawyer’s Association, Guwahati warned the state government that it would file a contempt petition in the Gauhati High Court against the State government for not shifting the venue of protests from Dighalipukhuri to the proposed protest ground at Betkuchi within the deadline set by the High Court.

Addressing the media here on Tuesday, Sailendra Das, the president of the Association, stated that the court had set January 31 as the deadline for shifting the protest venue. The deadline expired on April 30 but the State Government is yet to take any step.
He also informed that while passing the order on January 31, the division bench of Chief Justice Ajit Singh and Justice Manojit Bhuyan had made it clear that no further extension will be granted to the State government.
“If the government fails to take any action, we will be bound to file a contempt petition in the High Court,” said Das.
