The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council declared the Class 12 results for the Higher Secondary (HS) Final Examination (Arts, Science and Commerce) 2018 on Thursday.
Sampriti Rajkhowa from Ramanujan Junior College, Nagaon topped in the Arts stream, Raunak Lohia from Geetanjali Junior College, Nagaon secured the first position in the Commerce stream and Amar Sing Thapa from Abdul Hasib HS School, Hojai secured the first rank in the Science Stream.
In Arts stream, a total of 194533 candidates appeared for the HS final examination out of which 19470 secured 1st Division, 45751 2nd Division and 80060 got the 3rd Division. The pass percentage is 74.68.
In Science stream, a total of 37373 candidates appeared for the examination out of which 15728 secured 1st Division, 13825 2nd Division and 2492 candidates passed in 3rd Division. The pass percentage is 85.74.
In Commerce stream, a total of 17767 candidates appeared for the HS final examination out of which 3526 candidates secured 1st Division, 4950 got 2nd Division and 6562 candidates got 3rd Division. The pass percentage is 84.64.
The examination was conducted from 23rd February to 22nd March.
Meanwhile, most of the city’s schools and junior colleges showed a poor show in the HS Results and has apparently failed to live up to the expectations in the Higher Secondary (HS) Final Examination (Arts, Science and Commerce) 2018 results.
Candidates from prominent city colleges-Cotton College and KC Das Commerce College-Failed to make it to the merit list this year.
Three students from Kamrup (metro) managed to secure a place in the merit list in Science and Commerce streams. Unfortunately, no candidate from Arts stream made it to the merit list.
In Commerce stream, Praktisha Bachyas and Mritika Nath from Guwahati Commerce College secured 9th and 10th positions respectively. Bachyas obtained 457 and Nath obtained 456 marks. On the other hand, Ujjwal Jain from Cotton College (University) secured the 10th position in Science stream. Jain obtained 471 marks in the HS examination.
