NRC Updation to continue even after June 30

The process of National Register of Citizens updation will continue even after June 30.

On May 31, the NRC verification will be over and the final draft will be published by June 30, as per the order of the Supreme Court. The first NRC draft was published on December 31 (midnight), 2017.

NRC Updation to continue even after June 30

On Tuesday, high-level meeting was organized in New Delhi. In meeting, Union Minister Rajnath Singh took stock of the NRC updating exercise. Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Assam Director General of Police Kuladhar Saikia, Assam Police Additional Director general (Special Branch) Pallab Bhattacharya, and State coordinator of NRC Prateek Hajela, Assam’s Principal Home Secretary LS Changsan and Assam Chief Secretary TY Das were present in the meeting.

Post the meeting, Hajela told media that even after the publication of the final draft of the NRC, people can approach the NRC authorities for the inclusion of their names.

He also mentioned that if anyone has any suspicion that names of any Bangladeshi have been included in the NRC, then one can approach the NRC authorities with their allegation.
