In a major development in the missing Rebati Phukan Case, the Supreme Court of India on Friday asked the Central Government and the State Government to locate Phukan immediately.
The Apex Court also set a two-week deadline for the same.
A division bench of the SC comprising of two justices directed the Assam government as well as the central Government to take immediate steps on the issue.
Earlier, Kaushik Phukan, Rebati Phukan’s son had apprehended the Supreme Court pleading help to locate his missing father who had played a major role in the ULFA-Govt peace talks as a senior member of the PCG group.
Phukan who is a close friend of the ULFA-I Chief Paresh Baruah had disappeared mysteriously from his residence in Guwahati more than a month ago.
Earlier, in a major development in the incident of the mysterious disappearance of the senior People’s Consultation Group (PCG) member, exfootballer, peace negotiator Rebati Phukan, the apex court on Tuesday had decided to hear a habeas corpus petition in Connection with the matter.
