Assam State Zoo officials allegedly caught feasting Deer meat
State forest minister Parimal Suklabaidya has ordered a probe following the sensational allegations of the Chiriyakhana Suraksha Mancha about the officials and other staff members of the Assam State Zoo Cum Botanical Garden feasting on deer meat inside the Zoo premises.
A memorandum has also been submitted by the Suraksha Mancha to the forest minister highlighting their 18 demands on Sunday.

The Manch also alleged that former state forest minister Pramila Rani Brahma was involved in the rampant corruption in the zoo. The Mancha also claimed though they had approached Brahma regarding the deer meat issue, she didn’t take any action.
Earlier, the General Secretary of the Chiriyakhana Suraksha Mancha, Rajkumar Baishya had stated that there were around 1200 deer in the Zoo at one point of time but presently there are only 400 of them.
The Mancha alleged that when a deer die, instead of burying the animal, the zoo officials feast on it.
