“I am an Assamese, Don’t Kill me please” pleaded Guwahati Boys before being brutally killed by Mob
In a heart wrenching incident, Guwahati boy Nilotpal Das, before being brutally killed by a mob, was seen pleading to let him go.
A video which was recorded by one of the villagers have surfaced on social media platform where one can clearly see the visual of the crime spot, where the victim Nilotpal, with his hands folded and face covered with blood, was heard saying, “Don’t kill me… please don’t beat me. I am An Assamese. Believe me, I am speaking the truth. My father’s name is Gopal Chandra Das and mother’s name is Radhika Das… please let me go.”
The mob which gheraoed Nilotpal, didn’t listen to his repeated pleadings and prayers and continued to thrash him with the bamboo sticks.
Nilotpal along with his friend Abhijeet Nath went to Karbi Anglong for a day to “enjoy the scenic waterfall” at Kangthilangso, Dengaon under Dokmoka Police Station. Nath too was killed by the mob suspecting that the two boys were child abductors. Both Nilotpal and Abhijeet were working in Goa as artists and had reportedly come back home during the Bohag Bihu.
A case has been registered at the Dokmoka Police Station. As per reports, when the boys asked the local villagers for directions on Kangthilangso, some of the locals got suspicious. Two men reportedly intimated the others regarding the “child abductors” coming in “a black Scorpio vehicle” and asked them to attack the vehicle.
The vehicle was damaged and items in the vehicle were also destroyed along with the mobile phones sets of the boys.
Assam Director of Police (DGP) Kuladhar Saikia said, “A police team from Guwahati has been sent to Karbi Anglong. An additional DGP will accompany the team. We have started our investigation and law will take its own course. And there is no truth in the reports that police was present at the spot when the boys were being attacked by the mob.”
Assam Additional DGP (Law and Order) Mukesh Agarwal has rushed to Karbi Anglong.
Some has alleged that as Nilotpal was sporting long deadlocks, he immediately caught the attention of the mob, who took him as a child abductor.
Back home, the death of the two boys has descended a pall of gloom across the state. Netizens condemning the mob lynching incident urged the police to book the culprits.
Nilotpal and Abhijeet were residents of Nabagraha and Six mile areas of Guwahati respectively who come from well-to-do families residing here in the capital city of Assam.
Abhijeet’s relative said, “He was the only son of his parents…how will they live? How can they kill him…..he went to Karbi Anglong for a day….he will never come back,”
