Singer Ailitta claims she was not wearing a Gamusa in one of her music videos

Jorhat girl and singer Ailitta Kashyap took to social media to respond to numerous trolls she claims to have faced over the last few days for allegedly showing “disrespect on the Assamese attire and culture” by wearing a dress which had the colours and motifs of the traditional ‘Axomiya Gamusa’.

Netizens, while referring to a tube top which the singer wore in the video of her song ‘Deepor Bilote’, have allegedly said that she has “insulted” the “pride of Assam” – the traditional Axomiya Gamusa. In the music video, Ailita is seen wearing a tube top in white-red colour combination, which has motifs, similar to that of an Axomiya Gamusa.

Taking to Facebook, the singer wrote that the motifs used in the tube top are not from the Axomiya Gamusa.

“kebol dhunia dekhiboloi boga kapur etukurat ronga phool kati logua hoise jitu axomia phool nohoi. Axomia Gamusat dufale phool nathake. Efalei thake. Axomia Gamusat Axomia Sanekir aarhi thake (sic),” she posted on her Facebook account.

The singer also questioned about the sale of Axomiya Gamusa in Assam markets which are bought from outside the state.

She also posted a snapshot from the music video in which she can be seen in the top.
