Marriage celebration turns into funeral possession
In yet another shocking incident of civilians taking the law into their hands, a man was brutally beaten to death by five drunken men for complaining about burning firecrackers at a wedding venue.
The barbaric incident took place in Nalbari on Tuesday evening. The incident has sent shock waves across the region.
As per reports, marking the groom’s arrival at the wedding venue, the bride’s party burnt firecrackers. Fearing an accident due to the burning of firecrackers, one Jiten Das (35) had reportedly complained to the group bursting the crackers. The request in no time turned ugly and eventually led to a violent brawl between the drunken men and Das.
Das was thrashed to death by the five people from the bride’s party who were in the inebriated state.
Following the incident, the groom Mintu Talukdar called off the marriage. A resident of Mukalmua, Talukdar was supposed to tie the knot with a girl from Ghurathal. A pal of gloom has engulfed the bride’s residence.
The Nalbari police have arrested five persons identified as Jiten Talukdar, Bidyut Barman, Dipankar Talukdar, Achyut Talukdar and Barun Talukdar.
