Nineteen Assam government officers who were arrested on Wednesday spent a sleepless night in the police custody.
Other than the legalities, the intense heat exhausted the officials further apart from trying to keep the mosquitoes away from biting.
The officials were arrested as their handwriting did not match with that in their answer sheets in the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) examination held in 2016.
As per reports, the arrested will be produced at a special court here on Thursday. Dibrugarh Police might appeal for 14-day police custody of the arrested officials.
It is said the officials were provided food as per the manual. The officials were given lal chah (red tea), puri sabzi for breakfast. Like the night before, they will, they will be served chawal-dal-sabzi for lunch today and will be presented at the court after a medical test, as per reports.
On Thursday morning, the family members of the arrested officials arrived at the Women Police Station, Pan Bazar with food, mosquito repellent, mug and hand-fan.

The Assam Civil Service (ACS) officers arrested are Utpal Bhuyan, Barnali Das, Susovan Das, Dhruvojyoti Chakraborty, Manzoor Ilahi Laskar, Moon Mazoomdar, Mustafa Ahmed Borbhuyan, MD Saibur Rahman Borbhuyan, Monika Teronpi, Ganesh Chandra Das, Srabanti Sen Gupta, Deepsikha Phukan and Leena Krishna Kakati.
The Assam police Service (APS) officers arrested are Gulshan Daolagpu, Pallavi Sharma and Bhargav Phukan.
The allied service officers are District transport Officer Suranjita Hazarika, Superintendent of Taxes Rituraj Neog and Inspector of taxes Nipon Kumar Pathak.
