The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a 2 lakh ex-gratia to the victims' families in the Tirupati accident.
According to reports, the passengers on the bus were on their way to an engagement ceremony on Sunday morning. The Bus was coming from Dharmavaram of Anantapur District and was heading to Tirupati. Reportedly, the accident is also said to have gone unnoticed for nearly two hours as the bus was not visible in the dark. The police were alerted when some passengers heard the voices of the ailing passengers from the bus. As the surroundings were pitch black, the police and nearby villagers began the rescue operation with the support of a torch and small lights.
Notably, this is not Andhra Pradesh's first major bus accident this year. In February 2022, nine people, including six women and two children, were killed in a tragic accident in which a car and a truck collided at Budagavi village in Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur district.
